Profile of the Department

The Department of Information Technology was formally started in the year 2007.It offers an Undergraduate programme (BCA, started in ), two Post Graduate programmes(M.Sc. Computer Science, started in and M.Sc. IT, started in 2007) and a diploma course(PGDCSA, started in ). The Department now under the School of Computing Sciences has the autonomy in framing courses for its various programmes. It is one among the biggest departments in Shift-II comprising of around 500 students and 14 faculty members. All the faculty members have completed M.Phil and nine of them have registered for the Ph.D programme and are pursuing their research by publishing papers in reputed journals. One of the staff members has presented a paper in Singapore. Two faculty members have qualified for NET and SET. The department offers various training programmes for the students to make them industry ready. The Department has helped to place 29 students in various MNCs. The students of the Department have developed software applications to assist the IQAC in choosing electives and student feedback.

Vision

Provide skill formation to mould the students to make them inventive and entrepreneurial in the field of Information Technology, thereby assisting them to be technologically, socially and humanely well equipped.

Mission

The Department shall provide high quality education and training using ICT tools and pave ways for useful innovations by creating programmes with state-of-the-art infrastructure, excellent facilities and competent faculty. It shall emphasize on co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes to promote character building and impart life skills towards the excellence of the students in various aspects of their life.
