Profile of the Department
The Department of Human Resource Management (originally Society, Cluture and Civilisation) was started in the year 1983 offering its MA degree programme to graduates from any discipline of the humanities and sciences. Later the Department`s nomenclature was changed to Social Dynamics. The name of the Department now is Human Resource Management. It is purely a value based and socially oriented course. The students are given both theoretical input and practical training in understanding the social structure and the causes and agencies of social change. As part of this course, Rural and Tribal camps, Industrial Visits, In-plant and In-house training programmes are offered during the summer vacation. All India educational tours are periodically organized which provide students with an exposure to diverse cultures. Regular field visits to Voluntary Organizations, Case Analysis, Group Discussion and Individual Conferences are the pedagogical methods adopted. Seminars and Symposia on related social problems are also organized by the Department. This course was designed to give thrust to the dynamics of society exclusively, deviating from traditional social science courses, keeping in mind the true expectations of autonomy granted to the College.
