Career
guidance and counselling is a comprehensive and developmental program designed
to assist students in making and implementing educational and occupational choices.
The ultimate aim of this centre is to develop student?s competencies in self-knowledge,
educational and occupational exploration.
Objectives
1.
To help in the total development of the student:
The
emphasis onintellectual
development through the teaching of subjects alone cannot help in the
total development of the students. Therefore this centre looks into the overall
growth of the students so that they prove to be an asset to the society apart
from personal gain.
2.
To help in the proper choice of courses:
Everyone knows
that so far our educational system has grown up in a fashion where the courses
are chosen generally by the parents. Besides this phenomenon, the courses are
allotted to the students based on the marks in their qualifying examinations
irrespective of the likes and dislikes of the students concerned. Therefore
this centre assists students in choosing the courses that are liked and
suitable to them.
3.
To help in the proper choice of careers:
Students in
general are stranded on finishing their graduation not knowing where to go. We
are living in a highly complex and rapidly changing world of work. There are
changing requirements in industrial jobs and altered market conditions. This
centre enables the students to make the right choice when it comes to choosing
the career.
4.
To develop readiness for choices and changes to face need challenges:
For the
students of higher education the demands of life are likely to be great, in a
most different way from the exacting demands of education itself. That is to
make the students to understand the need to take the lab to the land.
Internship is made part and parcel of the curriculum and the feedback from the
students indicate that they are immensely benefitted.
5.
To motivate the youth for self-employment:
Considering
the magnitude of educated job-seekers flowing into the job market in India
every year, it is decided to help the students to look into careers of self-employment.
Lots
of programmes, seminars and talks are organised to identify the deserving
students to take up self employment and training is given to them on how to
proceed about the job of setting up a venture. Experts are invited from the
banking sectors for loan assistance and guide them to overcome the teething
financial difficulties.
