Enhancement of professionalism in the media forms and capacitating skilled workforce labour in the various forms of media industry
The Course offers credit-based modular programmes, wherein banking of credits for skill and general education components is permitted so as to enable multiple exit and entry. This enables the student to seek employment after any level of Award and join back as and when feasible to upgrade their qualification / skill competency either to move higher in her / his job or in the higher educational system. This will also provide the learner an opportunity for vertical mobility to second year of B. Voc degree programme after one year diploma and to third year of B. Voc degree programme after a two year advanced diploma. The students may further move to masters and research degree programmes (NSQF Level 8 – 10).

In order to enhance the Professional skills of the students , which is the Mission and Vision of the B.Voc Programme , the management has contributed fund for developing the infrastructure with that to a real time Professional Studio . The department had a Professional Recording theatre with iMac Systems. The Recording theatre is further equipped with the latest Digital Mixer (Presonus) with the 2.1 studio Master , Professional Keyboard that cost around 6 lakhs. The Recording theatre has a very good Acoustics with LED monitor for Re- Recording and dubbing, which paves way for a Professional dubbing unit. The imac systems are upgraded with the latest original version software which includes Logic Pro and Neundo 7. The department also have zoom recorder for the students live recording purpose. The Recording theatre was designed by our coordinator Dr .I. Arul Rayyapan and was implemented by Professionals like Bangaro of Bangs and Bangs , Chennai, and Mr. Prasanth , Sound Engineer, Chennai. The Studio was under the in-charge by Mr. Lourdes Terry, the sound Engineer.
The Department has large production room with Blue and Green Matt. The Production studio has 120 watts LED wall hanging Light set up , which acts as the Holly wood lighting costing around 2 lakhs . The latest DSLR camera numbering in five are provided to the students for field training and production. The Photography studio was retouched to be professional studio with two pairs of white and Black umbrella lighting setup with colour filters and reflectors and light meters
With aim of producing e- content and Promoting e- developing among the various departments and enriching e- materials in our college , the department has professional post production studio which includes the equipments and infrastructure like the Professional video camera SONY HXNR 3. The post production lab of the Vis Com Tech department has imac systems with original version of the professional editing software Final Cut Pro.
The multimedia lab of the department is upgraded with latest original version of software's with wi- fi connectivity for easy uploading and downloading.
The Acting workshop room comprises of mirror glasses and a PC connected with internet. this enables the students to experience a reality in their performance and further go for better exhibit in the performance.
The AV hall is a 50 seater mini theatre set up with a LCD Projector for the display of the students work and film Screening.
The Department of Visual communication Technology are the official photographers and Videographers from the year 2014. The Vis com Tech students are always active Participants within the college campus for various activities in terms of Photography and Video Coverage. The student activity of the year (2015) started with the photograph and layout designing of the Identity cards for the I year UG and I year PG and M. Phil students of the year 2015.The department students showed their Prudency in terms of their excellent coverage in the events.
The year 2015 had enchanting entry, where the students appeared for their level Exam conducted by the Media and Entertainment skill Council (MESC) through the assessing Agency Naviriti, Bangalore. The Students appeared for the first time and they secured 100% percentage in the Level 5 Exam conducted by the Media and Entertainment skill Council (MESC) through National Skill Development Council(NSDC). The Students formed a Team with Mr. Arivazagan of II Vis com Tech as Director , under the guidance of our beloved Fr. Xavier Antony , in Producing a Short Film under the Title B. Voc, the film that explains the career and future of a B. Voc student. The criteria the students face while their choice in choosing the course for their future. The students Participated in the INDEP 2016 and won Prizes in the event like Instrophony, Poster Making, Western Song. The student named Mr. Chandrasekar of I B. Voc bagged Third place in the BDU Fest, intercollegiate cultural programme organised by the Bharathidasan university for the on the spot photography competition. The students named Mr. Ravivarman and Mr. Ashwin got a chance to cover the CCL matches of the year 2016.
The department organize one day workshop with the Canon Professional and Universal Shoppe on the Theme Canon Photography. Mr. Jagathish Professional Canon Photographer trained the Students on nuances of Photography 30.8.2015. The Sony India Pvt in association with the department organised one day workshop on the Sony Alpha Photography in the month of September 2015. The Resource Person is Mr. Kishore, Professional Sony Trainer, trained the students on the Alpha Photography and Mirror less Lens technology. They also displayed the demo session of various sony products to the teaching and non- teaching faculty of our college. The Photographers from the Trichy association named Mr. Jagan and Mr. Sathya of Sathya studios, Trichy equipped the students with the technicality of Photographing. The department organized film festival on the theme of early Cinema in the month of November 2015 in the Audio Video viewing hall. the students are exposed to the world of Lumiere Brothers who introduced the film making. The Students also learned the nuances of film making through the Charlie Chaplin film Festival in the month of December 2015. The Department of Visual communication Technology in association with the Electronics Department organized a State level Technical Meet "Vis Com Tech Fest 2016" on 19.02.2016. The fest was inaugurated by our Secretary Fr. Sebastain SJ, and the Valedictory function was presided by Mr. Sabari Jegan Actor, Director and Film Institute Trainer Calicut. Students from various colleges namely Periyar E.V.R College, Holy cross College, Govt. Arts College Trichy, Thiru Vi ka Govt. Arts College, Thiruvarur, Srimad Advan College of Arts and Science, Bharathidasan University participated in the fest. The Overall Championship Rolling Trophy was bagged by the Periyar E.V.R college. The Short film Titled " Naarkaali" by Sathish of II B. Voc won first prize in the short film Competition , Mr. Chandrasekar won First Prize in On the Spot Photography, Robinson of I B.Voc secured First Place in Poster Making and Mr. Rakesh of I B. Voc won First Prize in Who's the Voice competitions organised for our department students. The Department of Visual communication Technology and PG and Research department of History jointly organized a Three Day Workshop on "Use of ICT in Promoting ad Protecting Cultural heritage" with the financial Assistance of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development , Sriperumbudur under the Scheme of Youth - Led Development Outreach Programme (YDP)in Higher Educational Institutions on Feb 22- 24, 2016. The workshop was inaugurated and the key note address was delivered by Dr. Ka. Nedunchezian , Professor Emeritus and Director , International Center for Tamil Language culture and Philosophy, Tiruchirapalli. The Dynamics of the workshop was briefed by Dr. Alexander Pravin Durai, coordinator, Dean, School of Management Studies and Dr. I. Arul Rayappan proposed vote of thanks. The Valedictory Function was presided by Mr. Annumukonda Ramesh, CEO, Media and Entertainment Skill Council, FCCI, New Delhi.
